Mixed results in Fred Daly Trophy

ALL second round matches have been completed by the youngsters of local clubs in the Fred Daly Trophy 2010 and, as in the Ulster fourball, with mixed results.

Castlerock, runners-up in 2004, beat Fortwilliam eight points to six and were rewarded with a tie against Castle Hume. Portstewart, plate winners in 2009, overcame Bangor to claim a match with Castleblaney in round two. Royal Portrush GC, winners in 2004, had an 11-3 result beating Clandeboye with Ballyliffin now lying in wait.

Neighbours Bushfoot, having defeated Greencastle 9.5 – 4.5, will be facing Ballyclare next.

As in the Ulster Fourball, Gracehill were awarded a walkover against North West GC only to have to give the next match to Donaghadee as another walkover.

Roe Park, Rathmore and Ballycastle were eliminated by Banbridge, Malone and Ormeau golf clubs respectively.
