Money gain revenge

Money started quickly forcing several short corners within minutes of the start of the game, but were unable to convert them. This gave Armagh a wake up call and they applied pressure on the Money defence of Angie Platt, Angie Huey, Aine Kearney, Susie Martin and Julie Nelson who all dealt with any threats the Armagh forwards caused them. It was on 18 minutes when the deadlock was broken when Katie Mullan found Jess Lynch in the circle and she made no mistake in putting the ball pass the advancing keeper. Money went into half time 1-0 up.

The second half saw both teams fight for possession, Robyn Chambers came close for Money but was denied by the Armagh keeper. Armagh gave everything they had to find an equaliser, but good work from Money’s midfielders and forwards enabled them to press the Armagh defence and on the 34 minute they forced a short corner. With Susie Martin’s first strike saved, Emma Kernohan made no mistake in slotting the ball into the corner of the net giving Money a well deserved 2-0 victory which was a hardfought match from both teams.

Meanwhile, Ballymoney 2nd XI beat Larne 1st XI in the quarter final round of the Ulster Qualifying Plate at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Center last Tuesday night. They won 3-1 and will face Armagh 2nds in the semis.
