Money raised in memory of Davy

This year, Lurgan Rugby Football and Cricket Club lost one of its most loved and valued clubmen to cancer. Davy Stevenson was very sadly missed at the two main social events in the rugby calendar – The Sportsman’s Diner and the Annual May Ball.

Both events this year were held at Pollock Park, and traditionally, a raffle and auction would be held to help raise money for the club.

However, this year was slightly different. As Davy had played a major role in both these events, generously helping the club raise funds by trying to outbid everyone, it was felt the club should try and give something back to those who helped him in his final days.

Marie Curie Cancer Care played an important part in the Stevenson family’s life this year, as well as many others throughout the club, and money was raised at both events for the charity.

A donation box at the Sportsman’s Diner raised £236 while the raffle at the May Ball raised £250, which were both donated to Marie Curie.

The club thanked everyone for supporting this cause so generously, as well as Buttered Up, The Wine Company in Waringstown and Hoop Hill Nursery for kindly donating raffle prizes.
