Greenisland started strongly Antrim Forum, attacking from the outset, with the midfield of Ashleigh Bell, Ruth Creaney and Jade Gardiner controlling the play and providing the forwards with some great passes.

Greenisland found a lot of space on the left of the pitch and Humphreys tried to penetrate the Randalstown circle, but their defence stayed strong.

Greenisland soon switched play to the right and some great link-up moves between Player of the Match Chloe Carlin and new addition Gardiner ensured the visitors continued to dominate.

Forwards Erin McMaw, Montgomery and Gemma Beattie managed to get a few shots on target but the Randalstown goalkeeper made a number of timely saves to keep the game goalless at the interval.

After a half time team talk from coach Peter Browne, Greenisland returned to the pitch keen to get a positive result out of the game.

It wasn’t long before they made the breakthrough when Erin McMaw’s great hit into the circle found Montgomery in the right place at the right time to tap the ball into the net to give Greenisland the lead.

Not content with a one-goal lead, Greenisland continued to press. They won a number of short corners and an attack up the right through Gardiner led to Humphreys getting her name on the score sheet with a clinical finish doubling her side’s advantage.

In the last 10 minutes Randalstown started to pose a threat on the counter-attack but the defence of Chloe Carlin, Jenny Henry and Claire Mayne put in some timely tackles to prevent sweeper Leigh Carlin and goalkeeper Leah Crooks from having anything to do.
