Monthly stableford at Royal Portrush

EDDIE Carson came top of the form in the Royal Portrush's monthly stableford competition at the weekend with his return of 36 points.

Playing off a six handicap Eddie set out with an opening hole birdie but a couple of bad holes pegged him back to a modest 16 points out. The ship was steadied on the homeward leg and included a birdie four at the par five tenth and a birdie three at the twelfth giving Eddie a further 20 points and victory.

Silver was taken by Sam McGuinness (7) for his 31 points. Sam’s highlight was a birdie at the par four eighth. Bronze position was occupied by Tom Bill (22) who recorded a creditable 35 points. Again the front nine proved difficult and Tom could only muster 15 points on it.

Turning for home a recovery was evident and 20 points came his way and ensured his place on the podium. Daniel McAleese picked up the best gross prize with his 84 of two matching 42s.
