More PBs for Fit N Running duo

FIT N Running’s in form duo James Wallace and Conor McQuillan continued their rapid run of progression when they each set considerable a personal best performances over the past week.

James, who was in action at the Lisburn 10k, slashed a fantastic 1min 38sec of his previous best for the distance which was ironically set on the same Lisburn course 9 years ago.

With 1700 athletes taking part, James finished well up the rankings coming home in 49th place in 40mins 18secs.

Relative newcomer Conor McQuillan continued to take massive strides forward when competing against top opposition in the Northern Ireland/Ulster junior championships at the Antrim Forum.

Going in the 1500 meters Conor produced a 42sec personal best to finish in 4mins 53secs and claim 7th place.

Also in action at Lisburn was 10 year Rebecca Wallace (daughter of James) who produced a demonstration performance when claiming victory in the junior 3k race.

Andrew Sands and Geoff McKibben both completed Lisburn 10k in 56mins 57sec and 57mins 46 secs respectively.

WOODBURN FOREST RACE

Mark McKinstry was in action as East Antrim Harriers staged the final race in their forest series at Woodburn forest. Mark continued his recent good form with an 8th place finish in 28mins 19secs.

CLUB TRAINING

Fit N Running are based at the Michelin Athletic Club in Ballymena. They train on Tuesday evenings at 615pm. There is also a session on Saturday mornings at 915am.

The club cater for the full range of runners from beginners, juniors though to intermediate and advanced athletes.
