More trophies decided as Festival of Pool concludes

Several more pieces of silverware were decided as the Ballymena Festival of Pool reached its conclusion at the weekend.

A number of individual titles were down for decision, while a trio representing Meatballs won the three-a-side competition.

CAPTAINS’ COMPETITION

Eight captains took part in the tournament and they were split into two groups of four.

The top two in each group then went through to the semi-finals, they were David Armstrong , Alan Davidson, Ritchie Irwin and Kieran Butler.

Semi-finals: Ritchie Irwin 1, David Armstrong 2; Kieran Butler 0, Alan Davidson 2.

Final: Armstrong 3, Davidson 1.

SENIORS

Eight seniors took part in the tournament and they were split into two groups of four.

The top two in each group then went through to the semi-finals, they were Jimmy Knowles, Pat McAnally (snr), Owen Butler and Albert McBride

Final: Knowles 3, McBride 0.

LADIES

Final: Mary Jo McCourt 6, Linzi McClelland.

THREE-A-SIDE

Sixteen teams competed in the three a sides competition and the Meatballs team comprising of Pat McAnally, Sean McAnally and Ryan Foster had a 5-2 victory over Connolly’s A, who had in their panel Gary Clarke, Gary Erwin, John McAllister and Kieran Butler.

First round: Fairhill Hustlers A 4, Towers A 5: Diamond Dazzlers 5, Coach 4; Inbetweeners 4, Michelin A 5; Connolly’s A 5, Diamond A Team 4; Fairhill Dreamers 3, Fairhill Hustlers B 5; Connolly’s B 2, Meatballs 5; Moat 5, Michelin B 1; Diamond Duffers 0, Towers B 5.

Quarter-finals: Towers A 4, Diamond Dazzlers 5; Michelin A 0, Connolly’s A 5; Fairhill Hustlers B 1, Meatballs 5; Moat 4, Towers B 5
