Morrow banned for gambling

FORMER Derry City striker Sammy Morrow has been banned from playing for six months (three suspended) for betting on the outcome of football matches.

Stories had emerged that 25-year-old Morrow's fate was to be decided by FIFA earlier this week at a special meeting in Switzerland, and that Morrow - now a Coleraine player - could face a fine and/or a ban having come clean on "illegal gambling".

It was also stated that Morrow had co-operated fully with the inquiry.
