Countdown to the Ulster GP 2015

Almost 1,000 road racing fans descended upon the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Shaw’s Bridge recently for an evening with the world’s fastest road racers.

With less than a month to go until Bike Week 2015 attendees rubbed shoulders with the biggest names and brightest talents in the sport, at the event hosted by the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix.

Motorcycling were reminded about what makes the Ulster Grand Prix the World’s Fastest Road Race and a favourite among fans and riders alike.

The BBC’s Liam Beckett led a lively discussion with racers Ian Hutchinson, Glenn Irwin, Dan Kneen, Lee Johnston, Peter Hickman, Paul Owen, William Dunlop and Dean Harrison, who all outlined their hopes for Dundrod this August.

A presentation was also made to Peter Hickman, who is the latest member of the UGP’s 130 club, for his sensational 131mph lap of the 7.4 mile circuit on his debut in 2014.

Noel Johnston, Clerk of the course at the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix said: “We’re thrilled with the turnout.

“It’s testament to the passion the fans have for real road racing and the Ulster Grand Prix.

“The riders gave us a taste of what’s in store for Bike Week and you can be sure we’ll see some close racing and intense battles on track.
