Dromore Juniors avoid 
potential banana skin

Dromore Bowling Club’s Juniors had a potential banana skin game away to 1st Ballymacarret in the league last Saturday.

It turned out to be a very close match. At the halfway mark the margin was one shot in favour of the home team.

Three rink games recorded the same score, 11-4, while the other game scored 3-9.

At the three quarter stage the game had changed to a two-rink advantage to the juniors and they held on to win by six shots and gain five-and-a-half points.

Rink 1: M McDowell, N Lindsay, S Harrison, S Malcomson - At the halfway stage this rink was in arrears of seven but with a couple of good scores in the second half they were able to share the spoils at the end.

Rink 2: I Houston, J Dickson, H Maxwell, T Sudlow: With the front end playing good bowls the rink had a comfortable seven shot lead at the halfway stage and went on to an 11 shot victory.

Rink 3: T Ogle, C Davis, D Burns, T Wilson: Here was another rink with a seven shot deficit at the halfway stage. They did try to make some form of a recovery but still ended up down by seven at the end of the day.

Rink 4: J Black, WJ Morgan, S Dugan, A Sudlow: Rink 4 had a good first half to lead by six but the home team came back. The juniors were facing a uphill struggle at 18 ends and were down by five but had a good last three ends to secure the victory byshots.

On Saturday the jJniors are away to Lagan Valley while the Seniors are at home to Whitehead.
