Dunlop unhurt after Cadwell Park smash

WILLIAM Dunlop was lucky to escape with cuts and bruises following a recent crash during testing at Cadwell Park.

Dunlop was riding Wilson Craig’s Supersport Honda when he high-sided on the exit of the final corner leading onto the start/finish straight.

He suffered cuts to his hand, which became trapped beneath the CBR600RR, but luckily did not break any bones with the start of the new season just weeks away.

Dunlop said: “I was quite lucky because it happened at the final corner at Cadwell. The bike just high-sided me and that was it.

“It was a pity because that more or less ended our test, but at least I didn’t break anything.

“I was testing at the British Superbike test at Snetterton before that on the new Honda 600.

“The engine is similar to last year’s but the suspension has been upgraded to 2012-spec and we’re running K-Tech stuff this year,” he added.

“We were concentrating on getting the suspension fine-tuned. I was quite pleased because my times weren’t that far away from the top times.

“I can’t wait to get out on it again at Easter and then on to the Cookstown 100 after that.”
