Great weekend at Silverstone gives Nutt a third placed Championship finish

The results confirmed his third place overall in the final Championship standings of the Ducati TriOptions Cup.

Having qualified in a strong second place during Saturday’s wet qualifying session, Marty lined up for the afternoon’s seven-lap race in confident mood and a good start allowed him to complete the opening lap in second place.

Pole setter Dennis Hobbs was setting a fearsome pace at the head of the field and Marty instead found himself locked in battle with Leon Morris for the runner-up spot but as the race entered its final third, all three riders were wheel to wheel.

The drama all came on the fifth lap when firstly Hobbs ran off track and then Morris crashed out, to leave Marty in the lead and he duly ran out victor by a commanding three seconds for his third win of the year.

Sunday’s second encounter, held over the slightly longer race distance of eight laps, saw Marty grab an early lead before Hobbs took over and with the safety car coming out on lap three for an incident, it ultimately became a four lap dash to the flag.

Hobbs immediately disappeared into the distance, going on to win both the race and the Championship, to leave Marty part of a five-rider battle for the final two podium positions.

With his strong form showing no sign of ending anytime soon, Marty successfully held off the challenge of Jonathan Railton on the final lap to take second and his tenth podium of another successful year.

“I was over the moon to win Saturday’s race as the conditions were really tricky and I wasn’t feeling it to begin with,” said Nutt.

“The bike was mega as my crew chief Rick did his usual job with the settings and there hasn’t been a wet race all year where I haven’t felt comfortable with the bike.

“As the season’s wore on, I’ve just wanted to win races so it was great to get another winner’s trophy.”
