Hamilton racks up four victories at Bush Road Races

It has been a long time coming but it was well worth the wait. Hamilton had not won a race in 2014 until it all came together in dramatic fashion at the Co, Tyrone event last weekend when the Man of the Meeting for the second weekend in a row, took the Hondas to a treble, scoring a double in the Open and Grand Final races to add to his supersport win.

The Ballyclare ace also added the supertwin race for a fantastic four-timer on the day.

The reigning Supersport and Supertwin Ulster and Irish Champion not only won the races but he broke the lap record in every class.

Hamilton opened his account with a comfortable win on Robbie Silvester’s Kawasaki ER6 in the Supertwin race, taking the victory over newcomers Connor Behan by over 20 seconds with Dan Kneen third.

He was just as impressive in the Open race, comfortably beating Kneen, with Michael Sweeney a close third.

Hamilton didn’t have things all his own way in the Grand Final however, with Kneen beginning to find his way around the track and leading on the opening lap until Hamilton, riding the Wilson Craig Superstock Honda, passed the Manx rider at the halfway stage to take the win by over half a second at the flag.

His fourth win of the day came in the supersport race, crossing the line 22 seconds ahead of Kneen.

“I have never won a big bike race before today but to win two is unbelievable and then to take four wins on the day is beyond words,” Jamie told the Times. “The Bush circuit is very bumpy and technical and I knew it would suit me so when the racing started I was confident of doing well and that’s what happened.

“I broke the lap record in every race, which is some achievement in itself.

“It puts me in the right frame of mind for this weekend’s Skerries road race.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank Wilson for having faith in me and to the team who have worked tirelessly. These wins are for them as much as myself. The Ballyclare bullet is back,” he smiled.
