For Carrick’s Graeme Irwin it was a welcome return to the podium. To say the the Heads and All Threads Suzuki rider has had no luck in the opening races of the 2015 season would be an understatement, but at Fox Hill that changed and he finished second overall, with Barr third on the BRT KTM.

“It’s great to be back up at the front again after the season so far. The bike was good today with no problems. Hopefully the season starts here,” said Irwin.

Barr told the Times: “I made a couple of slow starts in my races and had to fight my way through the traffic,” admitted Barr. “In race one Graeme got past me at the half-way point of the race and I couldn’t get back at him.

“In race two I could do no better than third again. I don’t feel I was riding at my best but it is still good to be back on the podium again.”

Barr heads to Holland in two weeks time for the Dutch GP. “I have raced in Holland a couple of time before so we’ll see how it goes.”
