The Larne Grammar pupil was in terrific form this year, winning his second Ulster title by 30 points from his nearest rival.

He was the overall winner at every meeting in the 10-round series and he won two out of every three races he took part in.

With nothing left to prove on home turf, he will compete in two British championships in 2015. “I had a great season winning the championship but now it’s time for a new challenge and it doesn’t come any better than the British,” said the 14-year-old.

Cameron and his father, William, attended the recent MX of Nations in Latvia where he watched local rider Martin Barr and met as 10-times world champion Stefan Everts and American champion, Ryan Dungey. “It felt like I was living the dream,” he said. “Maybe some time in the future I will represent Ireland at the MX of Nations.”

Cameron dedicated his championship win to his late uncle, David Ellison.
