Masters action heads back north this week

After the first meeting at Mondello Park a few weeks ago, the Masters series moves North for the first of two scheduled visits this Saturday.

After taking a double at Mondello in March, Bangors rider Robert English tops the Superbike series.

According to the press blurb from Mondello, that seemed to take everyone by surprise, but if you remember back to February, I said that he would be a man to watch this year because he was well up to pace and looked at home as soon as he climbed onto the R1. Not such a surprise at all. The reigning Supersport 600 champion leads the Superbike class from Gerard Kinghan and Ryan Rainey. Charles Stewart from Coleraine tops the Cup table after two great rides on his recently acquired Suzuki.

In the Supersport 600 class, Richie Ryan, in his new all black livery, leads the championship. Taking two wins at Mondello, Ryan is ahead of Dundrods Robert Kennedy and Luke Johnston from Ahoghill.

This weekend’s racing will feature Superbikes, Supersport 600, Supertwin, Superbike and Supersport Cup and sidecar. Admission to Bishopscourt will be £10 with under 16’s going free.

ARMOY VIP PACKAGES

Never ones to let grass grow under their feet, the progressive Armoy club have already announced details of their very popular VIP packages for this years races, on July 29-30.

The package includes free car parking in any official car park; morning coffee and scones; a locally sourced lunch, including free wine and a dedicated hospitality team who will be on hand at all times.

Individual tickets cost £80, with a table of 10 for £750. If interested contact Darryl at NakedPR, on 028 9091 8677.

TANDRAGEE 100

It has already been announced that, following the untimely death last July, of Dr. John Hinds, the North Armagh club have named the last right hand bend before Castle Corner will be known as Doc Johns Rise.

Doc John’s greatest wish, as we all now know, was to see a dedicated, doctor led Air Ambulance for NI. That has now come to pass, and I know for certain that he would have been over the moon with that fact. Tandragee was Johns favourite circuit, and it’s nice that the North Armagh club have seen fit to acknowledge that, by this gesture.
