Mercer to debut at Armoy

Steve Mercer is looking forward to his first taste of racing at the 2011 Armoy Road Races sponsored by Coleraine Skip Hire.

The road racing and Macau GP star has been confirmed as a member of the W.A. Corless/Jackson racing team along with Alan Jackson.

The Kent rider says he is ‘full of confidence’ heading into the races despite a frustrating non start at North West 200, which saw Steve withdraw from the races.

Speaking with Armoy recently Steve has confirmed that he will be riding a BMW in the Open race and the Race of Legends and he will be bringing his Yamaha R1 and a Yamaha R6 for the Superstock and Supersport races.

These bikes will also be used at the Ulster GP and all other road races Steve competes in this year with teammate Alan Jackson riding a Moriwaki MD in the Open and Race of Legends races and Supersport. Andy Corless, team owner has also confirmed entry in the parade lap riding a Ducati Desmo RR. Armoy clerk of the course Bill Kennedy said: “We are excited to have Steve and Alan confirmed for this year’s races.

“Entries are continuing to come in and we will definitely have a few more surprises on the grid.

“We have 17 newcomers to the circuit, which is great to see and shows how much the Armoy Races are growing.”
