Mid-Antrim 150 launched

The 2010 Mid Antrim 150 was officially launched at Ballymena Showgrounds last Saturday when a number of local dignitaries, including Ian Paisley Jnr. MP, and Nelson McCausland, MLA, joined The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Ballymena to pledge support for the local road race.

Speaking to the crowd, Jack Agnew, Clerk of the Course for the meeting, said that the club have worked hard recently and will be organising a number fundraising events, such as Sponsor a bale etc.

A new idea, and I reckon a good one, is the Peoples Race. This is a new concept, where fans can jointly sponsor a race. Thirty people can, for the sum of 50, become joint backers of the race, and have their name in the race programme, and also the Mid Antrim club website.

Quite often over the last number of years, the Mid Antrim club have been to the forefront of coming up with new ideas for funding races. This one is very novel, and I certainly have never seen it used anywhere else before. I hope it works for them.

I will keep you informed, as I get the information, of what is happening as regards the organising of the meeting. I do know that the new Miss Mid Antrim 150 will be elected soon. Local girl Megan Rea performed more or less her final duty at Ballymena Show last Saturday.
