Mid-Antrim Club to reveal plans for 2015 on Friday

Chairman Jack Agnew says it will be the first time that this particular event has been staged since 1988, and will be a major attraction on the racing calendar for 2015.

“For 2016, we would also plan to resurrect the Mid Antrim 150 Road Race. Work has already commenced on this venture, and information will be available shortly,” added Jack who, along with club members, will be busy at the club stand at the show.

WEEKEND CANCELLATION

The Supermoto racing that was planned for Nutts Corner on Sunday had to be cancelled due to snow, while the minimoto race meeting, due to be held at Aghadowey, was also cancelled, due to the threatened adverse weather conditions that had been predicted.

As it turned out, the MMRI held a practice day, which was very enjoyable, although bitterly cold.

I had a quick chat with 12 year old Portglenone lad Tom Greenwood and his dad Rodney at Aghadowey. Tom raced minimotos last season, and last Saturday was his first time on a bike with gears.

The Cullybackey College pupil was quick to get into the gear changing, and despite his day being curtailed by a broken engine bolt, he was coming well onto the pace. The broken bolt allowed the engine to move in the frame, pulling the fuel pipe off the carburettor.

Taking time to listen to advice, and more importantly, acting on it, the lad will go far.

When asked what he wanted to do when he grew up, Tom nodded at the bike. Seems like his mind is made up already.
