Motocross championships are down to the wire

Lisburn’s Richard Bird will be out to retain his Premier MX1 Class title when the final round of the Ulster Open Championships will be held at Temple Motorcycle Club’s old school Laurel Bank track near Saintfield today (Saturday), with all the Championships but one still up for grabs, a fitting climax to the season.

The Nutt Travel/Norman Watt Motorcycles Premier MX1 Class defending Champ Richard Bird from Lisburn on his Watt 350 KTM leads Portavogie’s Risk Racing/GOMX Yamaha mounted Robert Hamilton by 16 points and the title must be between these two.

Third place man Banbridge KTM rider Ryan Adair is not secure ion third place either on his Portadown Fireplaces/Adair Building Services machine, as 4th is Greyabbey’s Craig Browne on his Smoke Vent KTM 450 only 16 points adrift, with Ballymena man Stuart Nesbitt fifth on his Yamaha, 6th is Loughbrickland’s John Meara on his TMC KTM and both are tied on 218 points.
