MOTORBIKES: Andy Reid named Prince’s Trust ambassador

The Prince’s Trust has announced British Supersport contender Andy Reid as a local Celebrity Ambassador.

The Jordanstown racer is one of Northern Ireland’s up-and-coming sports stars and has signed up to help raise awareness of the work The Prince’s Trust does to help change the lives of young people across the province.

The 21-year-old will get involved with the Prince’s Trust in a variety of ways, including visiting young people on various programmes, taking part in fundraising events and supporting campaigns that will aim to improve the lives of young people.

The charismatic Ulsterman is renowned for his action-packed style of racing which has made him a big hit with fans right across the United Kingdom and Europe.

His debut season in the 2015 British Supersport Championship saw him pick up six podiums from eleven race finishes, including a memorable maiden victory at Oulton Park.

He will ride for Quattro Plant Cool Kawasaki next season in the 2016 British Supersport Championship.

Speaking about being named a local The Prince’s Trust Ambassador, Reid said: “I am privileged to be named as an Ambassador for The Prince’s Trust. I have faced adversity in my fledging motorcycle career, including a number of serious injuries, and each time I have had to dig deep, work hard and find a way to come back stronger.

“I hope that by sharing some of my experiences I can become a positive role model and help young people get their lives back on track through the various and hugely successful programmes that the Prince’s Trust has to offer.”

In his role as Celebrity Ambassador (a volunteer role), Andy will lend his voice to a number of campaigns and initiatives throughout the year to support 13 to 30-year-olds who are unemployed and those at risk of exclusion.”
