The Be Wiser Ducati British Superbikes star had bikes lined up for both events but when team boss Paul Bird said his team wouldn’t be competing on roads this year -instead concentrating on the BSB series - Irwin’s aspirations came to a halt.

“I understand and respect Paul’s decision on the roads but I do hope to be racing at the events in the near future,” Irwin said. “For the forthcoming season I will be totally focused on doing my best in British Superbikes and aiming at least for the end-of-season top six showdown.”

It’s a blow for the two road race meetings as Irwin is a big draw. He was on the podium at both the North West and Ulster GP in 2015.
