In race one the ‘Wee Wizard’ had a ‘did not finish’ when the coil broke down causing a misfire with three laps remaining while he was in a points-scoring position.

In race two he managed to finish 14th by the chequered flag. “It was a character-building weekend,” Seeley admitted. “We have some work to do in certain areas of the bike but I’m really happy to be part of the Superbike brigade again and hopefully we will have more consistency from here on in.

“A big thanks to my crew and team for all the hard work they put in over the weekend and also my sponsors for their continued support.”

The locally-based Tyco BMW team recorded five podium finishes at Silverstone with Michael Laverty winning the opening race from the second row. Despite a leaking radiator cap, he also took sixth in race two, leaving the Northampton venue second in the series.

His team-mate, Christian Iddon, claimed two second places, while in the Superstock 1000, Josh Elliot and Ian Hutchinson finished second and third respectively.
