The 15-year-old, who finished eighth in last year’s championship, was on fire at the opening round, finishing fastest in qualifying and then going on to comfortably win both races and lead the series.

Starting in damp conditions for free practice, Aaron, riding the Total Van Solutions KTM, left it until the last lap to set his fastest time - some 11 seconds quicker than his rivals.

Then in the qualifying, held in dry conditions, he was again fastest by nearly three seconds.

With the confidence of knowing he could do it in the races no matter what the conditions, Wright was not fazed by the rain in his opening race on Saturday. He made a good start but dropped to second in the early stages of the opening lap. However, near the end of the lap the leader lost the rear and crashed out, leaving Wright to put in constant lap times to the end of the eight-lapper to win by nearly five seconds from Tom Airey.

In dry conditions on Sunday, Wright led from start to finish, claiming a healthy 22-second winning margin over Will Lathrope.

“I can’t believe how well the weekend went, the bike was perfect and I can’t thank everybody who makes all this possible - especially my sponsors, Total van solutions, Diamond Herron, theautodock.com as well as so many others.

“It was an amazing experience to win both races in such different conditions.”
