Motorcycling: Irwin happy with campaign

Carrick’s Glenn Irwin finished second in last Saturday’s Supersport championship sprint race and eighth overall.

An electrical problem on Sunday saw the Supersport Cup champion retire from the race. “It was a pity the bike broke down as we had good race pace. Still, finishing as Supersport Cup champion and taking ninth overall in the championship was a satisfactory end to the season. I can’t complain,” said Glenn.

Disappointment for Seeley

ShAne Byrne sealed his third British Superbike Campionship in emphatic style with a superb triple victory at the final round at Brands Hatch in Kent last weekend.

But for Carrick’s Alastair Seeley it was a season that did not match up to his expectations. After a great start to the year, things did not come together for the talented local rider. In the end he finished 13th in the title race on the Tyco Suzuki.
