Motorcycling: They’ll be back at The Bush

The Dungannon and District Motorcycle Club, had looked to be finished, with no prospect of any more meetings,. However, with the help of the racing community countrywide showing support for the troubled club, it became clear that it had to be saved and it wouldn’t go down without the fighting of the community.

After a meeting at which the turnout and strong support convinced members that there were enough people to take the club forward and secure the future of the small club, a further meeting, was held last Tuesday evening.

Again with a good positive tur out, and supported by Councillor Kim Ashton, those attending were asked if the club want to move forward and, if so, was it going to be supported by all members, to which an astounding yes was, as expected, the reply.

That meeting was simmediately brought to an end, so an Extraordinary General Meeting could be convened to form a committee and move on.

With Councillor Ashton chairing proceedings, Ray McCall was overwhelmingly voted in as the new club chairperson, an obvious choice as he has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the revival of the club.

Once the other officers were voted in, various matters were discussed including fundraising, for which lots of great ideas were put forward that will not just benefit the club, but the people of Dungannon and further afield.

A rock tribute band has offered its services for March 20 at Cohannon Inn. Although numbers will be limited to 150, IT promises to be a spectacular night for rock music lovers.

Anod there’ll be a run/walk around 3.4 mile Bush racing circuit, in the summer, open to all and accommodating all levels of fitness, followed by refreshments or a barbecue.

With the evening ending on a high not, the club’s future has certainly gathered pace almost as fast as the bikes that will be once again racing the famous Bush circuit in 2016.
