New Ballymena-based road racing team launched

A NEW motorcycle road racing team, based in Ballymena, will take its place on the start line next season.

This week sees the launch of GAS International Road Racing Team, which has exploded onto the Road Racing Scene as a collaboration of experienced International Road Racers; Paul Gartland, Shaun Anderson and Corran Smyth.

GAS will be one of the largest teams in the Paddock next year, hoping to run six bikes in the Superbike and Superstock classes, an exciting prospect for the whole team.

It is expected that GAS will compete in Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, England, Scotland and Europe during their 2012 campaign.

The team, new for 2012 will be co-ordinated by PR & Communications expert Amanda Bennett, who will work with the riders, sponsors and other stakeholders to ensure the success of Team GAS in its maiden year.

Amanda said: “I am delighted to have been asked to work with Paul, Shaun and Corran on this new venture, it’s a very exciting time for the three of them and I am totally committed to creating a team, brand and environment which is fit for their success.”

Kells-based rider Corran Smyth added: “The current financial climate has made securing sponsorship as a Privateer all the more difficult, as a result this collaboration will give us economies of scale and access to a PR and Communications expert that we otherwise wouldn’t have had.
