NW200: Rider airlifted to hospital after Superbike crash

A rider has been airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast with non-life threatening injuries following an incident in final Superbike practice at the North West 200.

The competitor crashed at the Mill Road roundabout, bringing out the red flags with around 15 minutes remaining. He was flown to hospital by air ambulance.

A statement issued by the organisers said: “A rider has crashed at Mill Road roundabout during the Superbike practice session at the Vauxhall International North West 200 today.

“He has sustained non-life threatening injuries and is being taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by air ambulance.”

The first races are set to take place on Thursday evening around the 8.9-mile course on the north coast.
