Plenty of local interest in Superbike Championship

SEVERAL local riders will be up against some of the best in the world at this weekend’s Irish Superbike Championship round.

Banbridge’s Marty Lennon has two rides, firstly on his 650cc Kawasaki in the 650cc Supertwins race and on his 1000cc Honda Stock in the Irish Superbike Championship Races.

Mark Johnston from will also competein the Supertwins on his 650cc Kawasaki while in the Supersport/Supersport Stock Races Banbridge’s Jason Moorhead will be on his Yamaha.

Meanwhile in the Irish Superbike Cup Races Philip McGrath from Donaghcloney will be going for the chequered flag on his Yamaha.

This weekend is the opening round of the Championship. All race classes have full entry lists and should make the racing closer throughout the field.

Practice is from 9am on Friday with the Sail to Pole with Nutt Travel competition due to get underway at 11.45am on Friday and racing at 2.30pm.

Warm-up on Saturday is at 9am, with racing from 10.30am including the Enkalon Trophy in association with Adelaide Insurance at 1.30pm.

Event admission is £15 for adults including a programme with children going free. Overnight campers are welcome at no extra cost.
