Kyle Ryde held off his fierce rival in a last-lap thriller to take victory and with it the championship crown.

The race had been about three riders who had started the day separated by four points. Reid, Ryde and Joe Collier were alongside each other on the front row and as the lights changed it was Reid who made the break. However, a mistake on the third lap let Ryde in at the front.

Collier then forced his way through but Ryde had the final say, regaining the advantage on the penultimate lap and then defending his lines holding off Reid by a third of a second ahead of Collier.

Ryde took the series ahead of Collier and Reid, who finished level on 189 points.

“I couldn’t have done any more,” said a disappointed Reid. “I will now look forward to this weekend’s Sunflower Trophy race and having a run-out on the Milwaukee Yamaha.”
