‘Sky’s the limit’ for Turley

Philip Caldwell from HTM Offroad will supply the machine and spares sponsorship, with Philip McCullough looking after the training side of the partnership for next year’s campaign.

Ex-Ulster and Irish MX champion McCullough reckons the Islandmagee teenager can go all the way to the top in the MX game and plans to throw all his expertise behind the young talent.

“We will use the Magilligan track to train on the bike and I will also help with the all the off-the-bike training,” he told the Times.

“I have never in all my years in the game seen a father and son so dedicated to the sport.

“I know what I was like growing up in racing and it’s nice to have sponsors on board but when your father is as close and as dedicated as the rider is to make it work, the sky’s the limit!”

Praise indeed from the ex-champion who believes Cameron will be the one to watch.

“There is no doubt in my mind that he is the best talent coming through at his age in this country.

“I spoke to his father in 2013 and told him that with the work they were putting in, it was only a matter of time before the results followed and this year proved it as he just got better end better. He ended the year head and shoulders above everyone else.

“I watched him in England at the end of the season and he was a bit unfortunate on the result front, but I would like to think that in 2015 he definitely would be in the top five or six in the British Championship and with a wee bit of luck, even higher,” added the 2000 winner of the 125 Ulster Championship.

“The new Husqvarna is a great piece of kit and goes as good as it looks. I am sure Cameron will show just how good it is when he hits the track.

“Husqvarna have won titles in bigger classes but to be at the front in the smaller classes would be something special and a partnership we can build on into the future.”

It was an excited Cameron who had the final word. “I can’t wait to get out on the bike and do some testing,” he said.

“Hopefully I will have my first race on it at the Odyssey in the Arenacross series in January. “Without all the people who help behind the scenes, none of this would be possible so a big thank you to Philip Caldwell, Philip McCullough, Ian Marshall of IMR Academy, Graham Ross, Paul Heaney and all my family for their support.
