Bruce was in his first year racing on roads and had some impressive results since the start of the season, achieving third place at his first race at the Cookstown 100 in April and fourth place at the Tandragee 100 in May.

He also enjoyed previous success on the short circuits, which he raced since 2006, achieving third in the ISB Championship in 2008 and second at the Sunflower meeting.

The talented upcoming star was riding for the Harp Farm Honda team in Dublin.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Andrew Ewing, who is a close friend of the Moulds’ family, commented: “Bruce was a very popular young man, who was held in the highest esteem by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The Moulds family are lovely people and my heart goes out to them. This is devastating for his friends and family and my thoughts and prayers are with them at this sad time.”

Bruce’s Facebook page has been inundated with messages of shock and support for the Moulds family. Sam Dunlop, nephew of road racing legend Joey Dunlop, who was a competitor of Bruce Moulds, left a touching message on his Facebook page.

Sam said: “Gutted tonight. This year a young man called Bruce Moulds came racing on a 125. I was told he was keen to learn and he was. I only had a short time to get to know him and I can honestly say it was a pleasure to have raced with such a talented young man. My thoughts are with his entire family circle and friends.”

Clerk-of-the-course Sean Bisset, said: “It is a great tragedy and our thoughts are with Mr Moulds’ family.”

Bruce is survived by his father Steven, stepmother Karen and brother Harry.
