Ulster Championship quad racing

THE First Round of MRA Junior Quad Ulster Championship 2012 got off to a flying start with 79 competitors all revving to go.

Huge thanks to Lloyd Acoustics from Moira for their very generous sponsorship of this event and for presenting each rider with personalised hats on the day.

Thanks to MRA (Ireland) and Mr Laurence Spence for their support and also to St John Ambulance for keeping a watchful eye on all the riders, to Committee of CDJQC and anyone who helped in any way to make the event a success.

The 50cc class was the first to the starting gates and provided exciting racing throughout the day with cousins Jake Wilson, and Josh Smith (both Laurelvale) battling to the very final lap for pole position. Josh took the first place points on the day.

The standard 100cc and modified classes provided more excitement with Oby Dillon (Portadown) winning the 55cc class, Ryan McCulla (Drumbo) winning the Water-cooled class and Stefan Grieve the 110cc class.

Daniel Harper (Annahilt) took control and overall victory of all three races in the 80cc class. Despite a couple of collisions for top riders Dean Dillon and Nicole Lowry, the racing was very exciting.

The 200cc Blasters proved very fast and furious and with 17 bikes aiming for the holeshot, the first corner was not for the faint-hearted.
