Vintage club rolls back the years for Coleraine 100

The race may sadly be no longer be on the road racing calendar, but it is one which club member John Scott felt was worthy of recognition.

As has been the case over the past few years, the event proved to be an excellent outing with organisation, camaraderie and catering each of the highest order and it was enjoyed by everyone who took part on the day.

While riding conditions were rain-free they were also cool and the post event social gathering proved the ideal antidote to cold hands and feet letting everyone heat up again.

Some 15 riders did a rather more leisurely tour of the Macosquin, Drummond Corner, Ringsend “circuit” than their racing antecedents might have done 80 years ago when the racing was in full flow.

The racers, however, could not have experienced anything better than the hospitality provided to the members in these modern times of 2013.

To those who provided supper, to McKeary Motors for the use of their forecourt and to the organisers of the run itself, NWVMCC extends sincere thanks in helping make the event such and enjoyable experience.

Inishowen is the venue for this year’s traditional mid July run, whicjh will be held on Wednesday 17th.

Reggie Gilchrist will lead riders to Greencastle and beyond via the Magilligan ferry.

The meeting point for everyone who wishes to take part is the Strand Road car park in Coleraine with departure at 6.30pm sharp.

Those taking part are requested to bring driver’s licences along with them on the night.
