Over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of September the fifteen year old competed in his mini against over sixty of the top Junior Saloon racers from the UK and Ireland at Wiltshire Autograss League’s track at Gloucester.

After getting good results from the heats Alexander managed to get into one of the Semi finals of the event and progress through to the final.

It wasn’t all plain sailing though, on the first attempt to run the final Alexander picked up a puncture before an on track incident involving other cars brought out the red flags, stopping the race and with the quick reactions of his pit crew and help from other competitors

Alexander was able to get a wheel changed and take the re-run, which he led from start to finish.

The National Championship win comes just one week after Alexander secured the All Ireland Autograss series for his class at West Waterford Autograss near Lismore in Ireland.

With a few meetings still to go this season Alexander currently has a comfortable lead in the Down Autograss club points and is only a few points behind the leader of the Northern Ireland League but could be on course for winning all four championships he has competed in this season.

Alexander was inspired by Colin Turkington who also started his career in motorsport in autograss
