Moyola move towards safety after four-goal haul

MOYOLA welcomed Chimney Corner to the Mill Meadow and put some light between themselves and the bottom club with a 4-1 victory.

Moyola started the game with new signing Paul Brown coming in on loan from Institute up front as well as under 17 player Stuart Lennox at right back and the other new signing Daniel Mulholland on the bench.

Moyola started the game off well with a cross from Morrison found new signing Brown, however his header didn’t trouble Neeson in the visiting goal.

Moyola opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Brown fired in a free kick from the edge of the box.

Chimney Corner then had chances with S brown shooting wide and McClurg having his shot saved by McKibbin.

Moyola continued to press the visiting defence with Brown having a shot saved by Neeson and Pattison having his effort cleared.

Chimney Corner finished the first half with two chances however McKibbin saved a shot from McIntyre and a cross from Walker.

Chimney Corner came out in the second half with a lot more fight and equalised in the 50th minute when a cross from the left was fired past McKibbin by G Brown.

This seem to awaken the home team and they regained the lead when a ball from McLean through the middle found Maybin and he rolled the ball past Neeson to make the score 2-1.

Moyola then made a change with Mulholland replacing Morrison. Moyola thought they had extended there lead in the 54th minute, however the referee adjudged that Brown had fouled the defender after a cross from Crockett.

Moyola continued to press the visiting defence and Neeson saved efforts from Brown, McQuillan and Mulholland in quick succession.

Moyola extended their lead in the 71st minute when a cross from Brown on the left was missed by the Chimney Corner defence and goal keeper and Mulholland rolled the ball over line to get the second debut goal of the game.

Chimney Corner continued to battle hard and McIntyre had two efforts with one straight at McKibbin and the second effort went wide. With the game stretched the home side continue to make chances with shots from Brown and Maybin being blocked and then Brown headed against the cross bar following a corner from Pattison.

Butler had a chance for the visiting team in the 82nd minute however this went just past McKibbin’s right hand post. Crockett should have extended the lead in the 85th minute; however his chip over Neeson went past the post.

The home side finished the scoring when a great through ball from Mulholland found the unmarked Pattison and he fired the ball past Neeson to make the final score line 4-1.

This was a better performance from the home side, although they will need to greatly improve for next week's encounter as Dergview will prove a much sterner test.
