MULTI-TALENTED!

BALLYMENA Borough Council held the second summer ‘GET ACTIVE’ multi-sports fun week last week, this time at Wakehurst Multi Use Games Area.

Mayor Cllr. Hubert Nicholl presented all the participants with a Community Sport water bottle and a medal for successfully completing the 5 day event.

Ballymena’s First Citizen also presented trophies for Most Improved Player of the Week to Joshua McIlroy and Abby Simpson as Sportsperson of the Week for the 6 to 8 year old age group.

While in the 9 to 12 year old age group, Billie Young was Sportsperson of the Week and Jamie Houston was Most Improved Player.

The programme coached by Craig Livingston from Active Communities, Bryan Scroggie and Julie Alexander from Community Sport is managed by Ballymena Borough Council through Gary Boyd, Ballymena Community Sports Development Officer.

This week sees the final sessions for the summer and is the seventh year of the programme with over 120 children having signed up to participate.

Ballymena Community Sport would like to thank Mayor Hubert Nicholl for presenting the prizes as well as Cecilia McWhirter from Ballymena Borough Council and Mount Charles Catering who kindly supplied the medals, trophies and twice daily drinks for the participants all week.
