Must win game ends in defeat for Ladies

BLISS Beauty sponsored Dromore Ladies First XI were at home to Ballymena on Saturday in a must win match against Ballymena.

Dromore welcomed the return of midfielder Laura Gamble after an ankle injury.

Dromore started off well with great forward running from midfielders Robyn McKee and Paige Brown.

However, the first chance fell to Ballymena who after putting pressure on the Dromore defence of Louise McClurg, Tara Malcolmson, Chelsea Whan and Jo Leathem were able to break through with the first goal.

Dromore fought hard for the remainder of the first half and were unlucky not to score after Laura Gamble slotted the ball wide of the right post. The first half finished 1-0 in Ballymena’s favour.

Dromore started the second half well and immediately put pressure on Ballymena’s defence. Laura Gamble played a lovely through ball to Shannon Bush who was unlucky not to score when the keeper came off better in a one on one situation.

Ballymena increased the pressure on Dromore’s defence and were able to make the first break through of the second half making the score 2-0.

Dromore applied further pressure in the second half and had the majority of the play but were unable to take advantage.

Dromore ladies last match of the season will be away to Portadown next weekend where they hope to come away with a win in order in secure their place in Senior One.
