Naomh Padraig club launch

Naomh Padraig is a juvenile hurling club in North Antrim which caters for the young hurlers of Cushendun, Carey and Armoy.

Paul Mc Sparran of Cushendun is Chairman of this exciting new venture.

Paul explains the idea behind it: “The idea of us working together is born out of a necessity due to the lack of numbers in each of our rural catchment areas. The three areas of Armoy, Carey and Cushendun ‘lie into one another’ and so this coming together is for the mutual benefit of our parent clubs.

“We share a common purpose of striving to develop young players for our senior clubs. We want to give individuals the best possible chance to develop as players and as people and there’s lots of suppor and goodwill to make Naomh Padraig work for us all.”

“That goodwill is evident in the generosity of a number of local businesses who have sponsored playing kit right through from the Under-6s right up to the Minors. Their generosity has been a tremendous boost and is really appreciated.”

This Friday evening in Armoy the Committee of Naomh Padraig will host an event to recognise the generosity of each sponsor.

Paul continue: “This is our way to say our thanks and to let people know who is doing what for our new club. So Armoy is the place to be this Friday 1st May, come along, you will be most welcome”.

There will be activit involving most of our teams with young stars of the future from Ballycastle and Slaughtneil gracing us with their presence. On the competitive front, Naomh Padraig minors will take on Dunloy Cuchullians in the Darragh Cup competition. This Promises to be a great evening for this new juvenile club.
