Narrow win for B team on artificial surface

Banbridge B 83 (6)

Cloughy 82 (1)

THIS was not a game that Bann B were relishing due to the artificial surface plus a long journey and having to catch the Strangford ferry meant an early start.

Having played six unknown teams this year Bann were sitting on top of the league and have been there since the first game of the season.

Garvey were the only team prior to this game to have beaten Cloughy at home but they have never won away from home.

Only one shot separated the teams in the end but in the end it was an important six points to keep Bann at the top of the table.

Rink 1 - Bann scored their first shots after five ends but were trailing 10-3 and did not score for another four ends. After the 10th they were 20-4 behind.

Another four lost ends saw them trail 26-9 and finished 36-7 behind.

Rink 2 - This rink was having the exact opposite luck and led 13-0 after the first nine ends. By end 15 they had raced into a 22-5 lead and finished up 25-11 winners.

Rink 3 - A close affair for rink three saw the locals trail 8-3 after five ends and then decrease the deficit to two shots after 10 ends.

Bann pulled the mat up the green and with Nigel Hamilton in fine drawing form Bann had opened up a five shot cushion to lead 15-10.

For the second game in succession Bann scored seven in end 19 and went on to win 24-13.
