New backer for Mid-Antrim 150

Expected to be confirmed within the next couple of weeks as the first road race of 2016, the JFM Haulage Mid Antrim 150 organisers have announced yet another new sponsor for the popular meeting.

This year, one of the Supersport 600 races will be backed by the Pennybridge based company, Ballyprint.

Over recent years the Supersport class has thrown us up some of the best racing of the day and I see no real reason for next year to be any different.

Recently, the Mid Antrim club have been working flat out in their attempts to get the meeting up and running again after a couple of years in the doldrums.

After recently announcing a new title sponsor, in JFM Haulage, they have now secured valuable and much appreciated help for local printers, Ballyprint.

Chris Atchison from Ballyprint he said ‘It’s great to see the Mid Antrim back on the Clough circuit again. We are very proud to be associated with the club and with other local events.’

It’s great to see the JFM Haulage Mid Antrim on the ball so early, but then if the date change comes off for them, it’s just something like 17 weeks till the meeting. Just thought I’d remind you of that!

2016 ROAD RACE DATES

For many years the Cookstown 100 has been the first road race of the season, but it now looks like this will be preceded next year by both the Mid Antrim and the Tandragee 100.

I know that the local club felt, quite rightly too, that they suffered due to the glut of mid season road meetings.

Hopefully by moving to the April date they can draw a decent crowd. The dates for the meeting are pencilled in at 1st and 2nd April. The Tandragee 100 has moved forward as well.

From their traditional first weekend in May, until April 22 and 23, while the Cookstown is to be the last weekend in April, 29 and 30.

The North West is due to be May 10 to 15; Kells June 18 and 19. The Skerries will be July 1 and 2, making it the only road race in Southern Ireland that runs on a Friday and Saturday. Walderstown will be the 9th and 10th July and Faugheen the following Saturday and Sunday. The Ulster Grand Prix Bike Week will be from the 8th to the 13th August.

The last road meeting of the year in the North will be at Armoy, on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th August. Killalane is 10th and 11th September. Still a seriously packed calendar for the road racers.

Hopefully the local meeting will get the nod for its new date, and most importantly, the weather is kind to them. The dates, I do stress, still have to be agreed by the MCUI on, I think the 10th December.
