New marathon bests for Noble and Brennan in London race

Larne Athletic Club’s David Noble took an astounding 23 minutes off his previous personal best at Sunday’s Virgin Money London Marathon.

Noble cross the line in a superb time of 3:04:54 and was followed by club-mate Paul Gaskell in 3:11:57.

Ian Brennan also set a personal best, shaving 12 minutes off his previous record with a time of 3:52:14. Another Larne AC runner, Dominic Watt, came home in 4:39:47.

Also on Sunday, it was a down and dirty race at the McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness event in Portadown with two Larne AC members competing with friends.

Victoria McKinley-Hutchinson finished in 2:25:32, and Declan McGaughey came home in a time of 2:25:32.

Two Larne Athletic Club runners took part in the Born 2 Run Castleward Challenge 10k and Half-Marathon on Saturday (April 12).

Thomas Craig and Kerri-Anne Kearney were faced with forest trail, open pastures and shore line paths along Strangford Lough.

Kearney completed the 10k in a time of 56:41 (62nd), and Thomas Craig completed the Half-Marathon in a time of 1:39:49 (11th).

Three Larne AC runners took part in the Shane’s Castle 10k in Randalstown on Saturday.

The race took place in the Shane’s Castle Estate and consisted of a mixture of trail and road.

First home for the club was Ian McCluggage in an excellent time of 38:18, which secured him sixth place. Next to finish was Paul Tilson in 41:43, while Rhonda Brady clocked 48:03.
