New outdoor bowling season for Lurgan begins with Opening Day

Lurgan Bowling Club's new season gets going with the traditional Opening Day festivities on Saturday afternoon, April 2 at 2.00pm on the Green in Lurgan Park.

Melvyn Hamilton, this year’s Club President will raise the flag, followed by Mrs Hamilton bowling the first bowl.

The President and the Bowling Club’s new Council hope that there will be a good turnout on this special club day during which the usual rinks tournament will be staged in aid of the President’s chosen charity – Friends of the Cancer Centre; after which he and Mrs Hamilton will entertain all present to afternoon tea in the Pavilion.

After its short sojourn in Division 1, the Senior team is back in Division 2 this season but it is hoping to be back in the top division again in 2017; while the B Team will be settling into Division 4 having done very well to be promoted last season.

The club will also be fielding it successful veterans’ league teams and the ladies will be striving to better their last season’s 5th place in the NIWBA Senior League, which was their best in a number of years.

Lurgan Bowling Club Council encourages all members to invite interested males, females and juniors to Opening Day.
