New running club is under starter’s orders at Jim Watt Sports Centre

AS part of Coleraine Borough Council’s strategy to improve health and well-being within the Borough, this Thursday, July 25th, marks the official launch of the Beginners Running Group in Garvagh.

Staff from the Jim Watt Sports Centre will deliver this new and exciting venture around the rural areas of Garvagh. Although primarily aimed at a beginners’ level, men and women of all ages and abilities can attend. Members of the Borough are encouraged to enjoy some exercise in a fun, challenging and social atmosphere. Each session will start with an introductory talk on some of the basics, such as running posture, training regimes, and nutrition for exercise. A short run will then follow at a pace to suit everyone.

Richard Dennison, Rural Facilities Assistant Manager at Jim Watt Sports Centre, said: “We all run for different reasons, whether it’s to lose weight, keep fit or, in some cases, to enter and maybe even win races. But whatever the motivation for lacing up the trainers, you’ll find it all at the Beginners’ Running Club in Garvagh.”
