New season opens for bowlers

THE City of Derry Bowlers will open the 2010 season next Wedesday, at 6pm, with the raising of the club flag at the Lisnagelvin Greens by their President Ian Montgomery and weather permitting, some bowls will be played.

Members are asked to attend at 5.45pm and new members will be made very welcome.

This season promises to be a very challenging one for the club. The Provincial Bowling Association have introduced a new league structure and City of Derry will have teams competing in the Senior, Divison 2 and Division 3 Leagues.

They will also have, for the first time three teams playing in the Irish Senior and Junior Cups. The Senior and 'B' teams have a bye in the first round, Lisnagelvin are at home to Dublin Club, Skerries on Saturday, May 8.
