New sponsor for Grammar School

LIMAVADY Grammar School rugby team has received a great boost after securing the services of a new sponor.

The Foyle Food Group (FFG) has announced that it has become the shirt sponsors for the Medallion Rugby team at the school.

The FFG is made up of 5 food processing companies which are all based in the North West. The Group is well known for its production of fresh beef, lamb & pork products which it supplies to a variety of sectors including retail, manufacturing and foodservice and catering across the UK and Europe.

The FFG is also a keen activist in community-related projects and has provided assistance through a number of 'Business in the Community' initiatives such as helping to paint local schools, mentoring young people and teaching the elderly how to use the internet. This link up only serves to strengthen the good work that the FFG is doing in local communities across the North West.

Nigel McIlwaine, Group Finance & HR Director of Foyle Food Group is pictured here presenting the new sublimated shirts to Daniel Irvin, Captain of this year's Medallion Rugby Team along with Mr Stephen Bogle, Head Medallion coach. The Medallion Shield is an annual rugby union competition for 15 year old boys in Northern Ireland involving schools affiliated to the IRFU.

Due to their excellent success last year, the Limavady Medallion team were seeded to join the 3rd round of this year's competition. On Friday week ago, the Limavady lads fought a tough game against Ashfield High school in difficult weather conditions, but eventually came out victorious at 13 – 7. Excellent tries were scored by Daniel Irvine and Ryan McCool, with a penalty kicked by Luke Faulkener. The boys next game is against Belfast Royal Academy school this Saturday, February 13, and will no doubt be a major challenge if the Medallion Shield dreams are to be kept alive.
