New strikers

Lisburn Distillery manager Tommy Kincaid is hoping to have a new “experienced” strike-force available to take on Loughgall after Sean Southam asked to be released.

The former Glentoran forward joined the club in the summer but has now followed fellow forward Ally Wilson out of the club.

“Sean phoned me and asked to be released to play for Greencastle,” said boss Tommy Kincaid.

“He is going travelling soon and can’t commit to anything too serious.”

Wilson recently left to rejoin Rathfriland Rangers. Now Kincaid is moving quickly to replace those forwards but also wants his current crop to rediscover their goal-scoring form in order to get back on the winning trail.

“We’ve been drawing too many matches,” he said. “We need to turn those into wins. We just haven’t been finishing teams off. We need to start putting the ball in the net.

“As a manager, you can hope that the players you have find their shooting boots and add in new players. I’m hoping for both of those things at the minute. I’m hoping I’ll have new players available to face Loughgall on Saturday.”

Distillery have scored just three goals in their last four league outings. They currently sit just a point above Saturday’s opponents, who are now under the management of Brian Adair and Jimmy Gardiner, who took over at the club days before Christmas.

“When any new manager comes into a club, players want to impress so that might have an impact,” said Kincaid. “We’ll treat Loughgall with the utmost respect but we’ll be going for three points, just as they will be.

“Hopefully we can get a win.”
