News from around the Huntly Road course

BANBRIDGE MISS OUT ON JIMMY BRUEN QUALIFICATION - The Banbridge Jimmy Bruen team, captained by Peter Hillen, made the trip to Farnham Estate in Co Cavan for the qualifying round.

This is a huge course with lots of water and very slick greens. Banbridge set out with high hopes of qualification and were in contention after nine holes. Banbridge finished with a score of 371 for their best 4 cards and missed out on qualification. As always in these qualifying rounds each pair could have shaved a handful of shots off their score.

Well played to Michael Young and Neil Diamond, Neville Kerr and Gareth MacGregor, Mark McCoy and Ryan Simpson, Connor Mulholland and the club Captain and Gareth Moody and Patrick Magennis

ROSSMORE CUP TEAM AGAINST NUREMORE - Team captain Jim Mathews took his Rossmore cup team to play Nurmore golf club in the first round.

At the time of going to press locally confirmed reports were very encouraging with a 2 – 2 result for Banbridge in this away leg. This is a great result away from home and the team will be confident that they can progress to round two of the Rossmore cup in 2013. Well done to Jim and his team.

Details of the match winners will follow in next weeks report.
