News from the teams at Banbridge Rangers

SENIOR Training - Banbridge Rangers training continues to take place at Banbridge Academy until the end of the summer on Monday and Thursday nights from 7-8.30pm.

There is an open invitation for anyone to join the club and try out for one of the three competitive teams on offer at Banbridge Rangers for the incoming season.

Could all players note that training at Cheney Park will become gradual over the month of August and will be made aware of when it commences.

Youth Training - Banbridge Rangers Youth Teams start training at Cheney Park on Monday August 9 from 6-7pm.

All the players who were trialled in June are invited to attend along with any newcomers who would like to get involved with any of our youth teams. Players born in 1994, 1995 or 1996 should come down to try out for our older age groups whilst there is still space at the younger levels for players born in 1999, 2000 and 2001.

The Mid Ulster Leagues are scheduled to start on Saturday September 4 so there is still time to sign and register before the start of the season.

Mini Soccer - Banbridge Rangers Mini Soccer School for the Season 2010/11 will get underway this Saturday at Havelock Park with the new time of 10-11am and continue every Saturday and Monday.

The Monday session starts on August 9 at Cheney Park from 6-7pm and will also continue throughout the duration of the football season. It is open for all children of Primary School age and costs only 1 per session to attend and will take place every Monday evening and Saturday morning.

The club also intends to select some of the attendees to take part in the organised Mini Soccer Leagues across the district on Saturday mornings during this year giving them the opportunity to put their skills and training into practice.

Start of Season - Banbridge Rangers will kick off their season with a home tie against Ballymacash Rangers at home on Saturday August 14.

Kick off against the side who finished bottom side of Intermediate A last season will be at 2.15pm and a large crowd is expected down to Cheney Park from both teams.

Geordie McCallister's squad then travel to the Lurgan Arena on the Tuesday evening to play Lurgan Town Boys before taking on Lurgan Celtic away in the Marshall Cup on Saturday August 21.

Banbridge Rangers have been strengthened this summer with the experienced additions of Darren Clarke, Andy McCandless and Gareth Fulton and will hope to be mounting a challenge on the League Title again this year. Last Friday's 5-1 friendly win over Division One team Dungannon Tigers will be a major confidence boost going into the opening games.

Dan Thornton's newly promoted Banbridge Rangers Reserves begin their campaign on Friday August 20 with a home match against Silverwood United Reserves before taking on Gilford Crusaders Reserves in Gilford on Wednesday August 25.

In addition to the Reserve team Banbridge Rangers have formed a thirds team under Banbridge Rangers Swifts. The Swifts will play in Division Two of the Newcastle and District League this season and will hopefully be able to accommodate the numbers attending training and the emergence of players from within the club's Youth Academy.

Club member Robert Baird will take charge of the newly formed side who have impressed in several pre season friendlies, beating Dromore Amateurs Reserves as well as Armagh Blues Reserves on Saturday past.

Anyone looking to become involved with any of the teams within the club should attend on of the training sessions over the next few weeks.
