NIPBA Veterans Finals Day

The finals of the Northern Ireland Provincial Bowling Association Veterans Section were held in Coleraine Bowling Club on Wednesday 11th September and Thursday 12th September.

The weather conditions at times were inclement but nevertheless this did not deter a good turnout of spectators who witnessed a display of bowling of the highest quality.

Singles Competition and the Curran Cup was won by Jim Campbell (City of Derry); Singles Runner- up and the Shaw Cup ;was won by John Graham (Brookgreen)

Pairs Competition and the O’Kane Cup was won by John Shields and Tom Lithco (Portrush); Pairs Runners - up and the McClure Cup was won by Jim Campbell and Raymond Hutchinson (City of Derry)

Triples Competition and the Downes Cup was won by Freddie Monaghan, Sam McArthur and Robert Madden (Coleraine); Triples Runners - up and the Deans Cup was won by Brian Begley, John Shields and Tom Lithco (Portrush)

Plate Competition and the Linton Trophy was won by Andy Corscadden, Willie Martin and Leslie Wallace (Limavady); Plate Runners - up and the McIlroy Trophy was won by Barney McAlary, Harold Kelly and John Campbell (Kilrea)

Fours Competition and the Mullan Cup was won by Owen Caufield, Glenn Kerr, Jackie Hutchinson and Victor Callaghan (Caslterock); Fours Runners - up and the Conkey Cup was won by Harold Moore, Uel Galbraith, Alan Smyth and Jim Campbell (City of Derry).

Michael Fahy, President of the Northern Ireland Provincial Bowling Association presented the prizes to the various winners and runners up. He added his congratulations to all the prize winners and said he was delighted to have been invited by the Veterans Section to Finals Day. Each finalist was also presented with an individual medal as a token of the occasion.

The Annual General Meeting of the Veterans Association will take place on Wednesday 16th October at 10.30a.m. in Limavady Bowling Clubhouse.
